Jumpin’ on the (blogger) Bandwagon!

So, long story short, Match.com doesn’t work and can go to hell.  Yes, I would punch Match.com in the face right now if I could.  I’ll get into that rant another day.

Anyway, bitterness aside, I am now allowing my friends to set me up on blind dates.  Yes, my fellow bloglanders, blind dates.  It’s come to this.

So, first blind date is a BBQ tomorrow.  That way, if it’s super awkward and weird (as most blind dates are) all my friends will be there to witness it.  Joy.

My job was to make desserts.  My friend (the poor student millionaire matchmaker) is gluten intolerant.  The dude is type 1 diabetic.  soooooo….. I jumped on the allergen sensitive blogger bandwagon!

I thought and thought about the potential bandwagon to jump on.  Then I realized that Sunday is Father’s Day and being a broke-ass grad student creative, artsy type of person, I’ll be making my step-dad’s present.  Part of the present entails baking his favorite muffins.  I didn’t want to spend the whole weekend in front of the stove, so I went the raw route.

Yup this is gluten-free, sugar-free, and raw.  All it needs is some arm pit hair, a whiff of patchouli and I’m back in my Women’s Studies days at Berkeley!

This Hippie Heaven was brought to you by Chocolate Covered Katie’s fudge babies.  I used sunflower seeds just in case there was also a nut allergy in the mix, too.  Geez, these people are making me work for my date!  I also used Enjoy Life choco chips b/c they’re soy/dairy/gf free.

I figured I covered all my bases.

So that I can get to second base.

320g medjool dates

120g sunflower seeds

1 tsp vanilla

1/3 cup mini choco chips (I used Enjoy Life)

1.)  Grind the dates till just before they’re flour-y (but not quite nut butter-y)

2.)  Add dates & vanilla

3.)  Grind till paste-y

4.)  Add choco chips and roll into balls

As you can see, this recipe is super complicated & technical.  I’d read it twice before you start.  🙂

It’s pretty good.  The date taste isn’t super noticeable and it is definitely reminiscent of chocolate chip cookie dough.  Will it win me a boy?  We’ll see tomorrow.

🙂  Keep your fingers crosses.  Desperate times my friends.  Desperate times.

I’m this close to taping Kathy comics to my fridge and joining a quilting circle.
